Beg, Borrow or Steal by Susie Tate, a new 5 stars author

Ladies, OMG! I've discovered this author by chance, and I absolutely recommend you to read her books! In the last few days I've binge read her other series and I can assure you, her books are awesome! Cute and strong female characters, alpha males, amazing secondary characters, the perfect mix for an outstanding book!

For now, let me tell you a little more about Beg, Borrow or Steal, the first book I've read by Susie Tate <3

BLURB
Jamie is proud of everything he’s achieved. A consultant anaesthetist and the Medical Education Director – he’s a pretty big deal. So when one of his medical students falls asleep, right in the middle of a tutorial, he is furious. He’s a bloody good teacher, damn it!

Maybe he could have been a little more understanding. Maybe he didn’t have to try and humiliate her. But the shock of how beautiful this particular student was when she finally opened her eyes, and his inappropriate reaction, only fuelled his anger. He’s tired of lame excuses from wild party animals burning the candle at both ends, and he’s going to make an example of this one.

For Libby, pride is a luxury and beauty is currency. Pregnant at seventeen and an aspiring doctor, she couldn’t afford to be proud, so she cashed in on her looks instead. She will beg, borrow or steal to achieve her dreams and give her daughter the life she deserves, even if she has to forgo sleep – even if she has to leave her dignity behind.

Only now that she’s not just sitting in lecture theatres like her first two years of medical school, now that she’s working in a real hospital, Libby is realizing that the thread she’s been hanging onto for so long may be about to snap. The last thing she needs is to have riled the gorgeous, judgmental Head of Medical Education. But there’s only so far you can push yourself, only so much pressure you can be under until you break. Libby’s been on that cliff edge for a while; her health may just tip her over.

A kick in the shin from a four-year-old girl and a confrontation with her tearful, exhausted mother soon forces Jamie to see what a bastard he’s been. Libby may not accept his help, but he’s relentless when he wants something, and it’s not long before he realizes that this mother and daughter belong with him. So when a stag night he’s on ends up in the best strip club in England and he sees who the main attraction is, his reaction is explosive.

Despite everything, Libby finds she still has some pride left. This man has made her feel small twice now. He won’t be getting a third shot. No matter how gorgeous he is, no matter how persistent …

REVIEW
Woooo, I loved this book!
I discovered it by chance, it was in a thread focused on books with awesome children, and I will never thank enough who added this book to the list!

First of all, I loved the writing style! It really caught my attention, is was fluid and captivating, and I couldn't put the book down.

The book focuses on Jamie and Libby, a doctor/Med teacher and a medical student. They are two persons at two very different places of their career, with different backgrounds and lives, and it was really really interesting to see how they managed to make their relationship work.

I have to admit that my fascination with this book was probably due also to the fact that I'm a med student too, so it was great to read about something familiar to me (even if I study in Italy).

One thing that I appreciated really much was the reality of this book, not only the medical facts, but also the struggles of both Libby and Jamie in accepting their different background and life style (well, in Libby's case, a forced one). I felt for Libby, the difficulties she had to overcome, and I really admired her strength. I also understood Jamie and his struggles to understand and accept Libby's need of independence, her stubbornness, her second job...

And I can't forget to mention the awesome Rosie!!! She was a force of nature! A little moody, like all 4 years old, but I loved her personality 😂❤

Now I can't really wait for the book of Millie and Pav. I'm already fascinated with their characters, and I'm so excited to read their story!

Excerpt:

“Tomorrow let’s tackle the roof on the small barn. Last week when we had that rain come through, the horses stayed drier under the overhang covering the outside pen than they did inside the barn itself.”
I’m glad we’re onto more palatable dinner subjects now. As my Pops ages, his choice of casual conversation over a meal, more often than not, includes the day’s special on ailments or a detailed report on bodily functions.
Today’s topics of choice had been ingrown toenails and the effects of the latest pinto bean crop on a senior’s digestive system. Yeah, my dad can be a laugh-and-a-half at the dinner table.
“Absolutely,” I say, trying not to sound too relieved at the change in topic. “Do we still have a few of those corrugated roof panels we used on the shelter for the woodpile?”
“Probably just one or two,” Pops answers, before taking another massive bite of his hamburger.
“Maybe we’ll head into Cortez in the morning?”
“We can hit Denny’s for breakfast,” he says, slurping the dregs of his milkshake loudly.
Pops is a man of simple pleasures; a regular constitution and a hearty meal. Throw in a beer occasionally and he’s a happy man. He also likes predictability, which is why I’ve made it a point in recent years, to keep my schedule clear on Friday afternoons. We go out for an early meal—Pops like to eat at five—and catch up on our weeks, before planning out our weekend.
I don’t have much of a life outside of work. Sadly, my father is responsible for the bulk of my socializing. Friday dinners at a restaurant of his choice, and the weekends mostly putzing about our property. There are days when I feel more like sixty than the barely forty years I’m old.
“Now there’s a sight for sore eyes.”
I barely register Pop’s voice as I focus on my chicken fried steak sandwich, until the melodic cadence of a familiar voice pierces my awareness.
“First pick a booth, Mak, and then we’ll order.”
I swivel around in my seat to find Stacie’s daughter staring back at me.
“Hey,” I offer in greeting, my eyes immediately looking for, and finding, Stacie behind her. I can feel my face crack open in a big smile.
“Hi,” is the cheerful reply, along with Stacie’s more subdued; “Hello.”
“You friends of my son?” Pops pushes half out of his seat, the paper napkin he habitually tucks in his collar to catch the inevitable crumbs and stains flutters down to the floor, as he sticks out his greasy hand in greeting.
Instead of bouncing my head off the table a few times, which I’d like to do, I also stand up.
“Stacie, this is my father, Henry Flynn. And, Pops, this Stacie Gustafson and her daughter Makenna. Stacie is a colleague.” I’m not quite sure why I add the last, but the moment I see my father’s eyes narrow on Stacie’s face, a feeling of doom settles in my stomach. My pops is not exactly known for tact or subtlety.
“Why don’t you join us?” I quickly ask, hoping to avoid what I know is sure to come. Stacie opens her mouth with what I know will be an objection, but Mak easily slides in the booth beside Pops.
I feel bad for Stacie, who is left standing a little awkwardly next to the table. I grab her hand and gently pull her to sit down. I try to glare at Pops to warn him off when he leans over the table, his head slightly tilted to the side, but he’s like a dog with a bone.
“What happened to your face?”
And there it is.
I’m still contemplating my father’s imminent demise, while desperately seeking for ways to soften the shocked expression on Stacie’s face at the impact of his words, when her little girl pipes up.
“She got burned in an explosion. Gnarly, right? You should see her arm.”
I watch Stacie’s eyes pop open at her daughter’s callous description, but Pops is immediately distracted.
“The explosion up on the mountain last winter? That was your mom? Damn, I heard that was bad.”
“She almost died,” Mak says, her face somber.
“Yeah, but she didn’t, did she?” Pops counters sagely, and I throw up my hands, there’s no way to stop this train wreck. “Looks pretty alive to me.”
Stacie’s eyes, round as saucers, turn to me. Surprisingly, I see a glimmer of humor in their depths.
“Thank God,” her daughter blurts out dramatically, and the whole situation suddenly becomes comical in the most surreal way.
“Yeah—thank God,” Pops echoes, a smirk on his face as he winks across the table at Stacie, who promptly bursts out laughing, and I can’t hold back a chuckle. “Besides, they can fix that, you know?”
“Oh, I know,” Mak says wisely, tucking her paper napkin in the collar of her shirt, mimicking my dad. A move that makes all of the adults at the table smile. “Mom’s having her face done in two weeks.”

After a little confusion—during which the waitress shows up to take Stacie and Mak’s orders, and Pops takes the opportunity to order another milkshake and order of fries—I manage to glean that having her face done means Stacie apparently has another surgery scheduled.

My Review:

BEWARE!!! The cliffhanger in this book might be might be harmful to your e-reader/paperback. Be sure to take precautions so you can protect your device or book from being thrown, yelled at, or even cried over. Proceed at your own risk :D

WOW! Just WOW! I finished the book couple of days ago and I still can't get over it. I wanted to do all of the things I warned you about. That cliffhanger at the end of the book nearly killed me, but it was so worth it. The story is hot, suspenseful and intriguing. It caught me from the very first page and when I finished, it left me craving more. It was so sinfully good that I will probably re-read it couple of times before the next book comes out in a month.

I have to say that after reading Ruthless King, Keira is one of my favorite female characters. She is smart, stubborn, independent and probably a little bit crazy :D Even though Mount terrifies her every now and then, she is ready to stand against him and fight for her freedom. But Mount also frees Keira's sensual and kinky side. And with every touch and caress, her body craves him more and more. Even if her head is screaming something else.

Mount has become one of my favorite characters in his own right. He is powerful and ruthless and nothing can hold his attention for a prolonged period of time. Or at least that is true until he meets Keira. Only difference is, he is not the victim :D He is dominant alpha male that is not used to people having the guts to look him in the eyes and actually fight for what they want. Until he meets Keira. Her fire and independence attract him like a moth to a flame. The chemistry between Mount and Keira is palpable but it is something that both of them accept only as physical. Even if that's not exactly the case.

The story in itself is addicting. There are secrets, unexpected twists and suspense that will keep you glued to your seat and by the end of the book, you won't have any idea what's up and what's down. The one thing I can tell you for sure is that you will be craving MORE!!!

So, as I said before. This story is addicting. But it can be also harmful to your kindle so take every precaution. I can guarantee you would want to yell and throw your kindle in the end. The cliffhanger is just that good. Probably one of the best I've read in a long time ;)

Blog Tour: Sweet Time by Nina Lane

Stuck in a boring insurance job, vivacious Mia Donovan has spent the last few years searching for her life's true path. She fills her time helping plan the wedding of her best friend to the CEO of the Sugar Rush Candy Company.
Mia has also been trying to attract the impossibly rigid Sugar Rush security chief Gavin Knight. But for well over a year, the unyielding Mr. Knight has ignored her, despite her short skirts, tight sweaters, and patently obvious flirting. And when he finally approaches her, it's only to assess the wedding plans for potential security risks.
A former soldier, Gavin has intercepted hostile anonymous letters threatening the high-profile wedding. Determined to keep everyone safe, he's forced to work with the maddeningly sexy Miss Donovan of the thousand-watt charm and irresistible body.
Irked by Gavin's many months of disregard, Mia takes her teasing flirtations to a whole new level. But her coquettish ways are no match for the edgy, lust-fueled dominant he conceals behind his impassive exterior. And when Gavin exerts his full control, Mia discovers he can protect everything except her heart.

A smile curved her mouth. She stretched one leg over him and straddled his waist. With her nipples poking out of her bra, her skin flushed and her hair a waterfall of gold, he could have stared at her for hours if he weren’t about to implode with lust. He pinched her rosy nipples and twisted the strap of her bra. “Take this off,” he ordered. “I want you naked.” She shed her bra, revealing her perfect round breasts. She braced her hands on the mattress and leaned in to kiss him deeply, her tongue tracing the line of his lips. He slid his hands down to grasp her ass, working one finger between her cheeks. She inhaled sharply, but didn’t protest, arching her back like she wanted more. He’d give her more. And despite her willingness, it might be more than she could handle. More than she could take. “Wait,” she whispered, wiggling back so she was straddling his thighs. “Where are the condoms?” “Drawer in the nightstand.” She reached over to retrieve one and took her sweet time sheathing his dick. By the time she was done, his teeth were clenched from the light, tickling touch of her fingers. He grasped her hips. “Ride me.” Mia bit her lip, a flush rising to her cheekbones. For a second he thought she’d decline, but she lifted herself up, her hand circling the base of his cock as she positioned herself. Then she sank onto him, and the world exploded into the hot, tight clench of her pussy, the sound of her low groan, the clench of her knees around his hips. A flash of pain crossed her face before it was replaced with heavy lust. Heat sizzled through the air. She curled her fingers into his chest and started to move. “Oh my God.” Her breath grew fast, her astonished gaze still holding his. “I feel you so deep, all the way up here.” She pressed one hand to her belly and shifted again, working her gorgeous body up and down on his cock. He dug his fingers into her hips. His jaw clenched to the point of pain. He fought the urge to thrust, to drive them both to the edge. She was a fucking goddess, her tits bouncing, her body flexing and writhing, sweat glistening on her skin. “Faster.” He bit out the order, his blood on fire. She leaned forward, her hair falling in curtains on either side of her face, her little panting breaths puffing against his neck. Her eyes darkened with hunger and urgency. “I need it, Gavin,” she whispered, her teeth capturing her lower lip again. “I need to come with you inside me, hard and deep and… oh God…” “That’s right.” He grabbed her waist and thrust upward, needing to be inside her as far as he could. “Get yourself off… Christ, you’re incredible, all soft tight heat… you’re going to jerk me off, cover your little pussy with my come…” A shudder rocked through her. She braced her hands on his chest and moved faster. Breathy cries came from her parted lips. “I want you to do it first,” she gasped, sliding up and down his cock like a well-oiled piston. “Mark me.” She moved off him before he could stop her, her chest heaving as she slid back to sit on his thighs. She rolled the condom off his erection and stroked, her tapered fingers moving up and down his aching shaft, her thumb caressing the swollen crown. “Do it, Gavin.” Her voice was husky and threaded with anticipation. “Come on my pussy. Give me everything you have.” “Ah, shit.” Every part of him tensed. Fiery pressure built. He gripped her smooth thighs and thrust into her fist. “So goddamned close… harder… now… .fuck.” Heat exploded through him, jets of come splashing over her belly. She gasped, her fist still working his dick until the sensations ebbed. He groaned, sinking against the pillows. “That’s so fucking sexy,” she whispered, releasing him only to slide her fingers through the mess coating her skin. “I love how you feel on me.” “Get yourself off for me.” He stroked his hands up and down her smooth, damp thighs. “I want to watch you.” Shivering, she slipped one hand between her legs and brought the other to her breasts. She twisted her pink nipple and worked her fingers on her clit. Much as he wanted to delve his fingers into her slippery heat again, he restrained himself from reaching for her. He couldn’t take his eyes off the sight of her touching herself, her body sleek and soft. She threw her head back, her hair spilling over her shoulders. Moaning, she moved her fingers more frantically, her body tensing with need. “Gavin,” she gasped. “I feel it… I still feel you… oh God, I’m going to… ah!” A high, keening cry broke from her throat as her body shook, her hand still rubbing her clit. Fucking gorgeous sight, spearing him with fresh lust. “Oh fuck.” She groaned, collapsing on top of him in a hot, sweet bundle of softness. “That was amazing. My ass is still sore from your hand, and I swear that made me come even harder.” He gave a short laugh. Yeah, he’d lost the battle all right. He was about to lose the whole fucking war. And never before had he wanted to surrender.

Review
Ok, sooooo... I liked this book, but I didn't love it🙈
Unfortunately I didn't really connect with the characters (I don't know why, also because the writing style was good😔 maybe it was a sort of book funk?), so I struggled a little bit with this book.

In fact, I quite liked the first half of the book. Gavin and Mia's story has been in the background of the previous books of the series, so I was really happy to finally read it!
I really liked the chase, the first  real encounter, the beginning of their relationship. I liked Mia's stubbornness, she knew what she wanted and wasn't scared to go for it.

But I had some problems with the last chapters, especially the ones at the wedding. I don't want to spoiler many things, but when Mia misjudged a situation and made a mistake, I honestly felt like she was a little over dramatic in her reaction. She had to understand a little bit more Gavin's reaction, given the fact that she knew his rigidity in his work, and I felt like her doubts about their relationship were a little over the top.
Another thing that I didn't really get was the dialogue after everything happens (also during the wedding). I mean, come on, after such a difficult situation?
